pandas-datareader is quite convenient and integrates multiple sources of data. Would it be possible to add dbnomics access to it? Maybe a thin wrapper around the dbnomics-python-client would be sufficient? Happy to take a stab at it if pointed in the right direction.
One practical detail if someone picks this up: pandas-datareader’s readers are not very active anymore, so it is worth checking that the project still accepts new data sources before writing much code. In the meantime, dbnomics.fetch_series() already returns a pandas DataFrame, so pivoting it on “period” and “series_code” gives you the same wide, date-indexed shape that DataReader produces, which covers most use cases with a couple of lines.
